Introducing Dave Filoni, Supervising Director on Clone Wars
Bespin refugee - August 16, 2007
StarWars.com talks to Dave Filoni, supervising director on the upcoming animated Clone Wars series, including an insight into the series itself.
"I always think of what we're making as Star Wars Tales," explains Filoni, referring to the comic book series from the 1990s. "Those are stories explaining moral principle aspects of how the Star Wars characters relate in the Star Wars universe. It's filling in details that the fans kind of wondered about. But it's also telling a story for the mom that doesn't know anything about Star Wars -- that's really what old Star Wars did. ... Star Wars Tales kind of takes away the veneer of the Clone Wars being all about battles, all about wars. It tells interesting stories to fill in the gaps and also lets you know more about the characters and about the choices they've made."
...
The clones of the Clone Wars, who have often been relegated to background characters in the movies, will also come to the fore with individual personalities, according to Filoni.
