George Lucas Talks About His Museum, And How Corporations Are Ruining Movies

During a recent interview, George Lucas talked about his Cultural Museum. After plans for a San Francisco location fell through, the museum will now find a home in Chicago, with some help from his wife, Mellody Hobson. Lucas describes his museum as "organic architecture; "[it's] going to look like it's a living thing...like a sponge." The museum will focus on three areas; "hand-drawn, narrative art, including illustrations, comic book art, children's art and pin-up art"; a movie section (which Lucas says has "been blown way out of proportion."), with lots of theaters and huge archive, with the ability regional films, experimental films, and foreign films. The movie area will also feature exhibits on set design, prop design, costume design and editing, including artifacts from a number of movies, beyond those made by Lucasfilm. Lucas also talked about how the movie studios have changed. He says that, while the studios used to be run by "sort of creative guys."; the corporations came in, with no imagination or talent.”, and "didn't know anything about the movie business.”
