Lucasfilm Says No Plans For Digital Leia Following Fisher's Death

Bespin refugee - January 13, 2017
Dispelling rumors, Lucasfilm says it has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fishers Leia, (Princess, General, or otherwise) for any future projects. With Fisher's death in December, following completion of her scenes for Episode 8, rumors have circulated that her role in Episode 8 or 9 would be expanded via a computer generated performance. Lucasfilm says, Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.”
